The San Benito girls tennis team, behind a straight sweep in the singles category, defeated visiting North Salinas 6-1 Tuesday in Tri-County Athletic League action at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club.

It is the Balers’ fourth straight win. The team is now 5-3 overall.

San Benito sealed its victory in singles, where four wins, including a close win at the No. 4 spot, provided the Balers with more than enough points on Tuesday.

No. 4 singles player Alex Garcia managed to preserve the singles sweep when she defeated Selena Ramirez 4-6, 6-2 and 13-11 in the third-set tiebreaker, although no other match on Tuesday proved to be as tightly contested.

Kristina Slavich defeated Amanda Porrez at the No. 1 position 6-0, 6-1; Audrey Marshall topped Winnie Chen 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2; and Kelsey Slavich beat Raechaez Wilkinson 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3.

In doubles, North Salinas picked up its only win at the No. 2 slot, where Kayla Hoyt and Denise Santos defeated Kristen Klay and Olivia Diaz. But Balers Erin Glasspool and Alex Triolo were able to remain undefeated on the season when they downed Brenda Santana and Liztrelle Mangampit 6-4, 6-0.

At No. 3 doubles, Annie Tobias and Gianna Brigantino defeated Sonya Gutierrez and Gulissa Acosta 6-3, 6-2.

After four straight matches at home, San Benito will travel to Salinas on Thursday to square off against the Cowboys. Match time is 4 p.m.
