Thomas Francis Barry was born December 22, 1923, the 2nd of 8 children in Queens, NY. He began his career in the banking business there, in Queens, working part time at age 16. Tom joined the Navy at age 18. He was stationed in Hollister during WWII, serving in Torpedo Squadron 33. His sea duty included the closing battles against Japan. He met and married his wife of 64 years, May Weatherly, while stationed here. Tom worked in the Hollister National Bank for many years. Later he helped start San Benito Bank where he worked until retirement. He was an avid tennis player into his 70s and was an ice hockey fan, enjoying watching the Sharks with May. Tom enjoyed creating and painting miniature soldiers and other figures.

He is survived by the family he loved, his wife, May, his three children and their spouses, ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Pastor John Amelio of Glad Tidings Church will officiate.
