Travis J. Hoffmeister, 26, of Hollister, is accused in the June 2007 homicide of Christella Macias, whose half-naked body was found on C Street by a resident of the neighborhood. Hollister police arrested Hoffmeister in March 2008 after connecting him to the crime through DNA evidence.

Hoffmeister’s attorney has represented him for about seven months – public defender Greg LaForge previously was on the case – and had an Aug. 22 jury trial vacated to give the defense’s investigator more time to examine the evidence. Hoffmeister’s attorney, Arlene Allan, noted in court documents that she first received evidence records July 11.

Hoffmeister is set to appear Dec. 1 for a trial confirmation, with the jury trial scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Dec. 12 in room 201 at the San Benito County Courthouse.
