A jury trial is scheduled for the former Hollister martial arts instructor accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile girl, according to court records.
Timothy Gutierrez is scheduled for a jury trial at 8:30 a.m. April 7 in room 201 of the San Benito County Courthouse, according to records.
Hollister police officers in April 2013 arrested the 51-year-old man – then a martial arts instructor at the now-defunct Technique Studio on Sixth Street – on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female under age 14.
According to a police report, officers arrested him at the martial arts studio at 211 Sixth St. Police reported that the victim’s parent alleged there was inappropriate contact between the child, who was a student at the martial arts studio until her parents discovered the suspected inappropriate contact involving Gutierrez.
Gutierrez was booked into the San Benito County Jail accused of one charge of lewd acts with a child and one charge of sexual penetration. He remains in custody with bail set at $550,000.
Before his scheduled trial in April, Gutierrez is set to face a pre-trial conference Feb. 6 and a trial confirmation March 27.
