Police arrested two suspects Tuesday accused of three separate thefts from Target during the past month, according to police.

Police arrested the suspects, Rafael Guardado, 48, and Yvonne Montoya, 30, on Tuesday after Target security officers identified them from previous thefts on Dec. 7 and Dec. 28. The security officers called the police once they identified the suspects, according to a statement released Thursday.

Guardado and Montoya are accused of three counts of burglary. Montoya is charged with an additional felony of theft because of a prior conviction.

Officers arrived when Montoya was leaving the building and when she was ordered to stop, she refused, according to the report. After a short struggle, the woman was detained. Officers found some women’s fragrances in the purse.

Guardado was found inside the store and did not resist the police arrest.

A review of the store’s surveillance tapes identified the suspects in previous burglaries, police are alleging.

In the three burglaries, the suspects are accused of stealing hundreds of dollars worth of perfume and other beauty supplies, Police Capt David Westrick said. Overall, the two suspects are accused of taking around $400 worth of beauty supplies.

Anyone with more information is urged to call Officer Rosemary Pacheco at (831) 636-4330 or WeTIP at (800) 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
