Viola Mason passed away May 21, 2007 in San Jose. She was 98. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Troy Mason of Gilroy and son, Donald Mason of Salinas. She is survived by son Bill Mason and daughter-in-law Florence of Grants Pass, OR, sons; Jim Mason and Bob Mason of Gilroy, daughters; Millie Wright of Salinas, Leola Painter of Gilroy and Wynona Haygood and son-in-law Albert of Gilroy, 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great- grandchildren, a bother Roy Lee, sister-in law Bette and sister Irene of Oklahoma.
Born and raised in Oklahoma, she moved to Gilroy with her husband in 1946 where she was a devoted wife and mother of 7 children. She worked for Gentry’s for over 20 years, from which she retired in 1974. She enjoyed gardening and hosting family affairs. Her greatest joys were her loving family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gilroy for over 50 years.
Viewing will be held Thursday, May 24 from 1:00 – 9:00 P.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home. Services will be held Friday, May 25, at 10:00 A.M. at Habing Family Funeral Home with graveside services following at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park.
