Virginia Mendonca Santos died July 27, 2010, in Hollister. She was 93. A native of Ribeirinha, Graciosa, Azores Islands, she came to Watsonville in 1967. Mrs. Santos worked for Watsonville Cannery and then Green Giant for 15 years. She was a member of Valley Catholic Church and participated in all the Portuguese events.
She leaves her son Manuel (Carmelina) Santos of Hollister and her daughter, Filomena Santos, of Watsonville and a daughter-in-law, Orlanda Santos of San Jose; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was the last of 14 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Santos was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio, and her son, Eurico.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, July 30, 2010, with burial following at Valley Public Cemetery.
