Behind 23 assists from senior David Hawks, the San Benito boys volleyball team improved to 13-1 inside the Tri-County Athletic League on Tuesday with a 3-0 win over Christopher, as the Balers close in on their second TCAL championship.

The Balers controlled the match from the beginning, blowing out Christopher 25-14 in the first game. The second game, though, was much closer but San Benito won 25-21. The Balers won the deciding-third game 25-11 to win their 13th straight league game.

Dylan Lomanto finished the game with 16 digs for the Balers to lead the defense. Isaiah Acfalle, who finished with six kills, blocked three Christopher chances. Tyler Reuther also finished with three blocks.

Acfalle, Robert Henderson and Carlos Gutierrez finished tied with six kills in the victory.

“We played really well,” head coach Emily Tonascia said. “We are preparing for more competitive matches later this year.”

The Balers travel to Palma at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
