A resident peruses fresh vegetables, including fennel and leeks, at a past year's farmers market in downtown Hollister.

The Downtown Hollister Farmers Market will open for the season on May 2, from 3 to 7 p.m., on Fifth Street. The market will be open Wednesdays through Sept. 26. Residents can again expect to find many vendors selling locally grown produce as well as a mix of other items.

Some other items include fresh flowers, organic meat and poultry, specialty baked goods, local olive oils and honey, sausages, barbecue and more. Residents will also find arts and craft booths, a bounce house for kids, live entertainment and informational booths about local agencies or nonprofits. Free parking is available in the Briggs building parking garage.
