Bridget Marie Loftus September 22, 1917 – February 11, 2015

A Mass and Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015, at 10:00 A.M., at Immaculate Conception Church at 7290 Airline Highway in Tres Pinos, CA.  B. Marie Loftus passed away on February 11, 2015, after a courageous eight year battle with cancer.  
 Marie was born September 22, 1917, in Chicago, Ill to William and Catherine (O’Brien) Doheny, who had both immigrated from Ireland.
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard J. “Dick” Loftus and her brothers, James and Luke.
 She married Dick in 1943 and they spent the next 37 years living in Detroit, MI. They moved to San Jose, CA in 1980, to be near their family.
 In 1986, they built a house on the Ridgemark Golf Course in Hollister and resided there since.
 Marie is survived by her four children, William J. (Betty) Loftus of Gold River, CA, Honorable Richard J. (Karen) Loftus, Jr. of San Jose, CA, Thomas P. (Mary Anne) Loftus of New York City, NY, and Nancy M. (James) Joyce of New Canaan, CT plus eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
 In addition to raising her family, Marie worked as a high school administrator during her years living in Detroit. She was active in bridge, bowling and golf leagues.
 She was a unique and caring person, who will be remembered and loved by her family and many friends for her insatiable appetite for life, her determined independence, and her remarkable mental acuity, which never diminished.
