Passed peacefully from natural causes on Monday, June 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Hollister, California at the age of 86.

She was born in Olympia, Washington to David and Gene Christy (Scott).

Betty was preceded in death by her Parents, husband Don, son Michael and sister Joyce McPhee.

An accomplished student graduating from Oakland High School at the age of 16 and going on to attend and graduate from Cal Berkeley in 1951, with a double major in English and Mathematics. Betty and Don Married in 1952. While raising four children, Betty completed requirements for her teaching credential and taught school for ten years. Betty, a true business women, with her Husband Don’s mechanical mind established RMC Engineering Co. in 1978. Betty retired from the day to day business at the young age of 83. Don and Betty were happily married until Don’s passing in 1999. The business continues to flourish in Gilroy and is the family legacy.

She was an accomplished bridge player becoming a life master, the highest honor a bridge player can achieve. In Betty’s spare time, she was a voracious reader, superior enigmatologist, and an ardent steward of the earth. We will always remember her red correction pen and perfect English. We will also miss her dictionary- like ability to spell any word correctly.Betty also enjoyed live theater, water aerobics, and deep conversations on long walks.

Betty is survived by her three children and their spouses: Shawna McKenzie-Miranda and Joe Miranda, Kevin McKenzie and Deleta Jones-McKenzie, Scott McKenzie and Rachel McKenzie; she is also survived by her grandchildren: Ronnie, Dusty, Jason, Sean, Caitlin and Miara, Jose Jr., and Keila. Great grandchildren: Alexia, Jeiden and Matthew. She is also survived by her sister Joanne and Joann’s husband Ralph Anderson, as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service celebrating Betty’s life will be held in Hollister in early August.
