Long time local Spanish Teacher, Community Member, and Christ-Follower dies at age 75

Services to celebrate his life will take place on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at 2:00 P.M., at Gilroy Presbyterian Church, reception to follow in the fellowship hall.  Brian Owen Kjellesvig was born in Minneapolis, MN on July 25, 1940. Brian attended Wayzata High School where he played basketball, golf, and was in choir. He graduated from the University of Minnesota. 
 He moved to Gilroy in 1968 with his bride, Carmen and first born daughter, Beth, to begin his career in teaching. His family grew with two sons, David and Scott. He worked as a Spanish, History, and Driver’s Education teacher at Gilroy High School for over 35 years. 
 After his retirement, Brian often taught ESL to local elementary school children, went golfing in his free time, enjoyed singing choir at Gilroy Presbyterian Church, going to Bible study at OD’s kitchen, and spending time with family and friends. He cherished his friendships made in the Gilroy community through SIRS, GHS teachers alum, and GPC.  
 In 2007, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and continued his fight against hereditary congest ive heart failure. 
 He is survived by his second wife, Anne Greenan; four step-children, Julie, Larry, Bill, and Bob; his daughter, Beth; son-in-law, Bob; daughter-in-law, Tia; two sons, Dave and Scott; his sister, Sylvia; and his nine grandchildren.
