The arraignment for a San Benito County Superior Court clerk charged with embezzlement was postponed Tuesday.

Hollister resident Corrine Salinas, who was arrested for embezzling about $11,000, requested to extend her arraignment until April 20 to obtain an attorney, according to Alex Calvo, executive officer for the Superior Court.

Salinas was charged by the San Benito County District Attorney’s office with one count of embezzlement and one count of misappropriation of funds.

She allegedly embezzled the money over the past year from her employment in the criminal and traffic division at the Superior Court.

Part of her job duties included handling cash from criminal fines and cash bail, Calvo said.

If she is convicted, she could face up to a maximum of three years in prison.
