Former Hollister resident
Former Hollister resident Dionicio Martinez “Nicho” Yanez died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003 in Mendota. He was 67.

Mr. Yanez was born in Jerome, Ariz. and had lived most of his life in Hollister before recently moving to Mendota. He worked for Tri-Valley Growers for many years and was a member of Teamsters Union Local 890 and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is survived by his brothers and sister, Vince Yanez, Daniel Yanez, Richard Barrientos, Gabriel Barrientos and Artie Yanez Marquez, all of Hollister, and John Yanez of Mendota; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Victor Yanez, in 1991.

Friends may pay their respects Thursday from noon until 9 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited Thursday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday, proceeding to Sacred Heart Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Interment at Calvary Cemetery will follow.
