At Gary’s request there will be no services, but instead, he asked for a party to be held later in the spring.
We lost Gary on the afternoon of March 8th, 2014, after a 4 1/2 year battle with NET cancer.
Gary leaves behind his wife Judi, two sons Mike (Melissa), Tim (Michelle), a daughter Michelle, 10 grandchildren and many friends.
Gary was born in Newport News, VA. He spent most of his childhood in NE, moving to Menlo Park, CA with his brother, Doug and parents in 1960.
Gary graduated from Menlo Atherton High School in 1962 and began his 34 year career with Pacific Telephone. During his working years he enjoyed hay farming in Gilroy, horse pack trips with friends, and building and showing hot rods. He won several trophies for his 1940 Ford and stock 1939 Chevy.
Gary retired from Pacific Bell in 1995, but continued as a contractor for several telecommunication companies.
In 2003, he was able to totally retire and began to enjoy life. Gary had a second home in Placerville, CA. It was his “heaven on earth”. It was there Gary could drive his big tractor, his garden tractor, enjoy the peacefulness and the local wildlife. It was the place he would relax and enjoy the beauty around him. He was always happy in the mountains.
Gary will be missed by all that knew him. He was loving, kind, generous, funny and a very giving man. He may no longer be with us, but he lives on in the hearts and memories of all that knew him.
