A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 4:00 P.M., at the First Presbyterian Church, 2066 San Benito Street in Hollister. A private inurnment will follow at San Joaquin National Cemetery at a later date, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Elmo. Donations are preferred to The First Presbyterian Church of Hollister, Hazel Hawkins Hospital Foundation, or the American Heart Association and can be sent in care of the Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home in Hollister.
Jean E. Davis passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at age 86.
Jean was born November 13, 1928, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Thomas and Dorothy Ellen, and the youngest of three children.
She had been a resident of Hollister, CA since 1985.
Jean graduated from UC Davis with a B.S. degree.
In 1951, she married Elmo W. Davis who passed away in 2001 shortly after they celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Jean was a 50-year member of Magnolia Chapter #45 O.E.S. of Gilroy, a member of the P.E.O. sisterhood since 1970, and an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hollister, where she served as an ordained Elder and Deacon.
Jean spent several years as a volunteer of the Hazel Hawkins Hospital Auxiliary and actively supported the growth of the hospital.
Jean is survived by her son, E. Warren Davis Jr. of El Cajon, son, Grant Davis of San Jose, son, Glen Davis of Timonium, MD, daughter, Jeanette Whorley of Hollister, 10 grandchildren, sister, Frances Stark of Challis, ID, and numerous nieces and nephews.
