Maria was born January 11, 1941 in La Hermita China, Nuveo Leon, Mexico, to the late Porfirio Silva and Guadalupe Garza.
On September 25, 1959, she married the love of life of 56 years, Francisco Moreno Mottu’ and moved to Mission, TX.
In 1966, they moved to California and settled in the town of Gonzales, CA, where they raised their six children. She was a devoted wife. mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was very well known and loved in her community, where she operated a local gift shop since 1987.
She loved listening to Mexican music, gardening, shopping, especially at thrift stores, always looking to find a bargain. She enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed watching her dogs play.
Her generous heart filled her home with love and fun for her family and friends, including an attitude that there was always room for one more in the house and at the dinner table. She leaves all her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with the knowledge that they were truly loved.
Although, a very sad event for her family, we can see beyond the sadness, to the blessing that she has joined other family loved ones in that eternal garden and with our Lord Jesus Christ.
She is preceded in death by her son, Osbaldo (Ozzie) Mottu’ 1988, and Xavier Velazquez Mottu’ 2014.
Maria is survived by her sons and daughters, Mario A. and Toni Mottu’, Jose F. and Manuela Mottu’, Adalberto Mottu’ and Tony Caldera, Patricia and Joe Monteon, Elizabeth and Steve McFarland, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
