San Benito County's latest effort to close down medical marijuana dispensary Purple Cross went up in smoke last month – at least for now – when a judge recently denied a request for a preliminary injunction that would have forced the controversial nonprofit to close immediately.

Hollister police have identified and arrested one of the shoplifting suspects recently caught on camera.

The Hollister Police Officers Association voted June 25 to officially endorse an extension of the city’s general fund sales tax. The vote came two weeks after the Hollister Fire Fighters Union voted to pursue a public safety tax of their own and come out against the general fund sales tax extension.
