Richard Ernest Renfrow AKA – PAPA, 80, passed away on Wednesday November 27, 2013, at Mabie Skilled Nursing Facility in Hollister, California. He was born on February 6, 1933 in San Francisco, CA to Ernest Leslie Renfrow and Pauline Ann Renfrow.
Richard grew up in Hollister, CA and in the early 1950’s also lived and worked in locations such as Pismo Beach and the oil rig fields of Bakersfield, CA.
In 1956 he was introduced to the concrete industry and followed his skill for the next 50 years doing variety of jobs including large ones such as Kmart Corp. as well as custom jobs for known actresses in the Carmel area. He was certainly adept and quite skilled because of his knowledge and vision in anything he encountered.
A prime example is when he ran 50 miles on his 50th birthday. His accomplishments are many and encompassed a vast number of friends from all walks of life.
Richard married Alberta Huddle Pena on July 30, 1994, in Shady Cove, OR. They were happily married for 19 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, the annual Clear Creek birthday bash, auto restoration, photography, boating, camping and last but not least, being a master BBQ connoisseur. Dick was an avid Denver Broncos fan and wore his team colors with pride.
Richard is survived by sister Patricia Snyder, and brother Timothy Renfrow (Gwynn). Daughters, Gloria Lomanto and Carol Lenoir (Brian) both of Hollister. Grandchildren, Hillary Lomanto (Frank), Brian Lenoir Jr., and Richard Lenoir. Alberta’s daughter, Lisa Sears (Mark) of Seaside. Richard is also survived by Raymond Cuneo (son of second wife, Nadine Gospodnetich Renfrow) his daughters and son, Tamara Cuneo, Brittany Schvartsberg. and Dion Cuneo.
Papa Dick is also survived by great-grandchildren, Sammie Gamez and Rocco Gamez, children of Hillary. Alexa Koerber and Andrew Shvartsberg children of Brittany.
Dick leaves behind nieces, nephews, and cousins and many friends who shared his love of life. He was pre-deceased by his parents and sister Laverne Aby and son Richard Carmine Renfrow.
A very special thanks goes out to Jerry Stoffers who so diligently visited and aided Dick on a daily basis. God Bless You.
