Hollister police have arrested a suspect accused of rape for the second time in the past two months.

The Hollister Department arrested Mathew Jacobs, 21, on suspicion of a rape reported to occur July 8.

The victim reported she was sexually assaulted at a residence in Hollister. Jacobs met the victim on July 8 and is suspected of sexually assaulting her, according to police.

Detectives previously arrested Jacobs on July 22 in Hollister. Police believe Jacobs had used social media to get in contact with his victim in the first reported incident that investigators allege occurred July 21. Police suspect Jacobs used social media in the second reported rape as well.

Jacobs was booked into the San Benito County Jail on suspicion of rape and sexual penetration with a foreign object by force. The bail was set at $200,000. At the time of his arrest Jacobs was out on bail from the July 22 arrest.
