Behind three singles victories, the San Benito tennis team stayed undefeated in the Tri-County Athletic season with a 5-2 win over Alvarez.
Singles players Kyle Skinner, Andrew Panger and Geoff Muzik all won their individual matches to lift the Balers over the Eagles.
Skinner, returning to the No. 1 singles spot after a two-match absence, won a close match over Jeremy Ortiz, winning in three sets 6-3, 6-7, 10-4.
Geoff Muzik also won in three sets, dispatching Alvarez’s Joe Ramirez 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
No. 1 doubles team Sonny Singh and Jacob Panger continued to play well, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-1.
Nick Trillo and Aaron Francis also won by the score of 6-4, 6-3.
The win clinches the Balers a berth in the TCAL playoffs on Tuesday. The time and opponent is still to be determined.
“They are all playing pretty good,” head coach Chris Yoder said. “We just have to finish this thing off and get ready to play Tuesday.”
