The California Highway Patrol responded at 4:50 p.m. Friday to a collision that resulted in the death of a Morgan Hill woman at the intersection of Buena Vista Avenue and No Name Uno, according to CHP Officer Jaime Rios.
The driver of the other vehicle involved – whose last name is Becerra, according to Rios – was traveling westbound on Buena Vista Avenue in a Dodge that collided into the left side of the second vehicle; a Nissan traveling south on No Name Uno.
According to the Santa Clara County Coroner’s office, 64-year-old Janice Settle of Morgan Hill was inside the Nissan and unresponsive at the scene. Rios said she was pronounced dead at 5:53 p.m. after being transported to the Regional Medical Center of San Jose.
No additional information has been released on Becerra, who Rios said did not claim any injuries at the time of the collision.
Settle’s dog, which was in the back seat of the Nissan, later died at the scene of the collision, according to Rios.
The CHP states alcohol and/or drugs are not a factor in this collision, which is currently under investigation.
Rios pointed out there is a four-way stop at the intersection of Buena Vista Avenue and No Name Uno.
