Donald Garcia, 72, died in Gilroy on Wednesday, Aug. 6, following a brief illness.

Garcia settled in the Morgan Hill area 40 years ago. He was a truck driver for 45 years and was working for TVT in Gilroy when he retired. He loved working in his garage, watching wrestling, fishing and spending time with his family. Garcia always enjoyed a home-cooked meal.

He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Garcia, and his brother, Steven Garcia. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Garcia of Morgan Hill; and his children and their spouses, Donna and Milton Gonzalez of Gilroy, Donald E. Jr. and Glenda Garcia of Middletown, Calif., and Erica and Art Suniga of Gilbert, Ariz. Garcia is also survived by seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his brothers, sisters and many nieces and nephews.

A vigil service will be held today at 7 p.m. at Habing Family Funeral Home in Gilroy. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and then proceed to St. Mary’s Church (Our Lady’s Chapel) for a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park in Gilroy.
