Covid-19: A year of loss
Since then, as of Dec. 28, Covid-19 has killed 27 more people in San Benito County, and another 652 in Santa Clara County, according to public health officials. The rate of the virus’ spread has expanded exponentially—with more than 1,000 positive cases reported daily in recent weeks in Santa Clara, and a positivity rate of 68.3 new cases per 100,000 residents per day in San Benito.

As of Nov. 25, there have been 1,784 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus in the county, which is an increase of 307 cases reported since Nov. 2. The local death count remains at 16, according to San Benito County Public Health officials.

OptumServe testing site closed for walk-in service
The OptumServe Covid-19 testing site in Hollister will no longer accept walk-in appointments, until further notice, according to San Benito County staff.

Council member tests positive for Covid-19
Hollister councilwoman Carol Lenoir announced earlier this week that she tested positive for Covid-19, adding her to the list of surging cases within San Benito County. She said in an email to the Hollister Free Lance on July 7 confirming she contracted the virus.
